Web 2.0.png

Web 2.0 is a term coined in 1999 to describe web sites that use technology beyond the static pages of earlier web sites. The term is closely associated with Tim O'Reilly because of the O'Reilly Media Web 2.0 conference which was held in late 2004.[1[[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Web_2.0#cite_note-graham-0|]]][2[[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Web_2.0#cite_note-oreilly-1|]]] Although web 2.0 suggests a new version of the World Wide Web, it does not refer to an update to any technical specification, but rather to cumulative changes in the ways software developers and end-users use the Web.

Web 2.0 is the term given to describe a second generation of the World Wide Web that is focused on the ability for people to collaborate and share information online. Web 2.0 basically refers to the transition from static HTMLWeb pages to a more dynamic Web that is more organized and is based onserving Web applications to users. Other improved functionality of Web 2.0 includes open communication with an emphasis on Web-based communities of users, and more open sharing of information. Over time Web 2.0 has been used more as a marketing term than a computer-science-based term. Blogs, wikis, and Web services are all seen as components of Web 2.0.

A dealer can install and configure WebPoint 2.0 and have complete control of an automation system in less than five minutes. The Web 2.0 user interface makes the Web interface look like a touchscreen. Status updates occur without any interaction from the user, and the page does not refresh when the user controls a device/button/scene. WebPoint bridges between InFusion and Q Systems seamlessly. Camera monitoring includes the ability to view video clips that were saved when the system detected motion.

“WebPoint 2.0 allows the homeowner to control the system from the Web anywhere in the world,” says Andrew Wale, Vantage/Legrand’s vice president of marketing.

Web 2.0 technologies provide teachers with new ways to engage students, and even allow student participation on a global level. However, children raised exclusively in the era of new media technologies are less patient with activities such as completion of worksheets and classroom lectures.[41] Decreased participation in a traditional classroom may be due to better feedback received online. -
